Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

Hey- there's a new Q&A posted on the mssiah site-
looks like some of these questions from this forum have been answered...

MSSIAH wrote:

-Is there a "tracker" with the new Mssiah?
No.
-Is the Mssiah compatible with the Firestarter Midi Interface?
Yes, for synchronization and SDR only since we've taken away the "keyboard" mode.
-What differs running the Mssiah in full midi and hooking up a Prophet64 to the infamous "Firestarter Midi Interface"?
The "Keyboard" interface on the Prophet64 receives simple note data and slide/accent triggers.
Mssiah receives full midi data like notes, velocity, control changes, pitch bends etc. on up to six tracks simultaneously. Several modes of operation are provided.

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

As somebody kinda said, a nice "friends" price would be cool for existing customers like Elektron do.

Having said that though, everybody who frequents this site is probably already a customer so... maybe not a good idea.

My 64 will soon be worth more than some of my synths! Hooya!

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

So to speculate:

1) Bug fix and updates for current Available p64 products? I am starting to guess these will be abandoned.

WRONG:

The programs are practically the same with some upgrades and improvements. The biggest difference is the ability to run full Midi mode in every application.

2) Midines type note for plug and play sidstation like capability

With the following I am gonna be intersted in upgrading, but it will hurt with the shit state of the us dollar smile

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

And I take it the 'up to 6 tracks' quote on the MIDI notes refers to complete SID2SID compatibility, right?

(I hope so as I've just built one!!)

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

SO basically without the FS interface missiah is a midi interface to receive notes and CCs but don't have sync ability?

-Is the Mssiah compatible with the Firestarter Midi Interface?
Yes, for synchronization and SDR only since we've taken away the "keyboard" mode.

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

I read that is it provides an alternate method of sync:

-Is Sync24 still supported?
External synchronization uses MIDI clock, just plug in your midi cable and swing away your fav. sequencer software/machine.
Every app except the Sequencer still has DIN sync option in case you want to hook it up directly to your old gear.

So:

DIN
Mssiah Midi Sync
and Userport Sync

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

But if MISSIAH will have MIDI sync itself why it says it will use FS interface to sync?

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

Similarly,
"-Is SDR still supported? Yes.""
"Is the Mssiah compatible with the Firestarter Midi Interface? Yes, for synchronization and SDR only since we've taken away the "keyboard" mode."

Does that mean SDR is built in or is Firestarter's interface still necessary?

Could it be the white background color of the Mssiah site that's messing with your (-already twisted and perverted-) mind, Tonka?

(oh, that twisted perverted part was a compliment!!) smile

Didn't you think the 32 Euros for the 'old' cart wasn't a friends price already?
I expect a fair price. You know, Aliens can't pay with dollars or euros, so it isn't worth anything for them anyway wink

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

I don't think that my interface is necessary with MSSIAH. But it will still give you functions that MSSIAH can't give you at this point.

Emails will only slow down the testing process.
You can of course write them, if you don't mind having the Mssiah in your hands not earlier than C64's 30th birthday wink

Mssiah is welcome to have it's training period in the holy city of Jerusalem! :-)
what kind of mssiah is it if it's not familiar with the past?

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

What does "no keyboard mode" mean? Does it mean all controls via midi and no pattern triggering with c64 keyboard? Or just pattern play and no midi keyboard mode? Any of these could depress me so...

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

They are not talking about the C64's keyboard.. "no keyboard mode" means "no user port keyboard mode"..  (triggering notes from the user port)
I guess it's gone in favor of the new real midi mode.

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

Ah goddamnit. I'm a total klutz for elektronikx and p64 is my first synth to program: I'm using it in a total dilletante way, so... I still don't know what a user port is. Joystick port No. 1? Doesn't matter. Thank you for reassuring me! I believe you science-guys! Does it than mean we'll be able to play it via MIDI keyboard (I'm still not sure how MIDI works anyway) and twitch pots at the same time? You know, like Klaus Schulze and Brian Eno? Sorry for the idiocy!!!

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

Yeah, well, I'll start a topic about that!

Just have to add that I'm sorry because Mssiah won't be able to turn p64 into Midi Master, because I take delight in sound mistakes. So I'll get Firestarter's midi also! Just hope everything turns upsidedown!

Re: 8bitventures MSSIAH announcement

They say there will be 5 programs.

Sequencer
Bassline
Lead
Drummer..

and the mysterious 5th application... ...

will this be something like a midi controlled "cynthcart" ?   just a straight up direct sid synth program?

I gotta say, as someone with a midibox sid.. the c64's background noise and low processing power really work against it for this sort of idea...

Isn't the mono-synth with the forthcoming MSSIAH full midi a straight up direct SID synth program??

The 5th Mysterious application..........I can tell you it is a music application!!!
