For anyone else who wants to use a PSone screen

his jpg shows a region of the motherboard, from the BOTTOM, where the
A/V 8pin jack is.

The bottom of the image is off the board, the top of the image is
toward all the components.. sorry it's sort of vague..

BUt you will recognize those 11 solder points beneath the jack. the
bottom 3 are generic ground points. the symmetrical 3, 2, 3 pattern
is the other 8.

go to www.benheck.com, go to the furms (the picture of a pacman
talking 1oo1oo1 in the top bar)

in the forums, is "hacking portable screens"

there is a sticky for PSone screen.

it will tell you which wires in your psone screen is for the video,
audio, etc..

it's pretty simple with these two bits of info. I'll just recap (as i
spent the last 2 hours figuring this out, i'll save people the time)

oooh, just before i forget, i took the power jack and the wires from
in the psone screen, and i'm going to mount it on my c64, so i will
supply power to the screen directly from the psone power supply,
rather than draw power from the 9vac)

aanyhow.

i am leaving the top half of my screen intact. easier that way.

I have one bundle of wieres hanging down, and one little PCB with a
power jack and power plug on it.

connect the first red wire on the left to the red connector in my
diagram (i chose red, it's not red on the board). Connect the rest as
shown..

you should be able to figure it out.

from that diagram.. i gotta sleep..

now i have to figure out some way to add a bracket or slot with a hinge so i can fold it down for storage.

Re: For anyone else who wants to use a PSone screen

Replying to myself.

I got it wrong. IF you cut the lowre board off at the wires, it degrounds the earphone select, which is gronded until you put in earphones, and it stops sending signals to the speakers.

so, rather than use the ext in for audio, use the regular audio ins.. which are pins 10 and 9

if you need to, like i do, either ground pin 6, or connect pin 6 to pins 10 and 9. Both choices work.

sorry for the misinformation.

Now you can all install little screens in your P64 machines! never scrabble for that 13 inch 1702 monitor on stage again!

Re: For anyone else who wants to use a PSone screen

Yet another update

the speakers ONLY WORK for pins 1, 2, 3 if pin 1 is getting a signal. WIthout a video signal, no sound

SO connect everything just like my diagram shows.. but connect pin 6 to pin 4, or pin 8.. just ground pin 6, dear GOD!
